GENERAL
INFO.
The courts chose PDF format for a number of reasons. Adobe Acrobat software works with most types of computer operating systems including, but not limited to: Linux, Windows, and iMacs. A .pdf document will look the same no matter what kind of computer system is used to view it and no matter what printer is used to print it. EXCEPTION: Documents created with Adobe 6.0 can use some new features that may not be viewable if the viewer is using Acrobat 5.0 to view the document. A message will be displayed in that situation to warn the viewer of the problem. Even is you own the older version of Adobe Acrobat, you can always download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat “Reader” to resolve this issue. PDF is the standard format used on most Internet websites for printable versions of documents. PDF documents created by Adobe Acrobat software have small file size. A 6-page document converted to .pdf using MS Word would create a file approximately 205 kb. The same document converted using Adobe Acrobat would create a file approximately 25 kb. The advantages of smaller-sized files are that you can file them more quickly even if your internet connection has a small bandwidth. You and other viewers can also open the files more quickly to review them or print them. |
