CALENDARS FOR ATTORNEYS

There are two main calendars available to attorneys in CM/ECF.  The daily calendar is a standardized view of a day’s schedule.  The calendar events report is a variation of the daily calendar with broader options.

You access the “Calendar – Daily” and the “Calendar Events” reports under “Reports” in the main blue CM/ECF menu bar.

You can access deadline information on the “Calendar – Daily”, but not on the “Calendar Events” report.

You can also access deadline information under “Query” on the blue main CM/ECF menu bar and then under “Deadline/Schedule”.

There are separate instructions for the calendars and “Query” options in this “Reports, Calendars and Query” section of the manual.

PACER FEES FOR REPORTS

Most reports require that you enter your PACER login and password before you can access them because you will be charged 7 cents per screen viewed or page printed for accessing them.

For court calendar information on the “Calendar Events” report, however, you will NOT be charged a fee.

REPORT FIELDS

Most reports have a set of fields where you can enter information and make choices.  These fields are parameters.  These parameters can be used to narrow down the amount of information that is in a report or they can be used to produce a large report.

Since you are paying 7 cents per screen viewed or page printed for most reports, it is recommended that you use any available fields to narrow down your report size.

CLEAR OPTION

You can click the  button to return the report fields to the normal defaults if you change your mind about any of the choices you have made.

STOPPING

A REPORT

If a report is not produced quickly, it is normally because you have requested a very large amount of information.  Since this was probably unintentional, it is important to know how to interrupt the production of a report.

Clicking on your browser’s  button at any time will stop the report from running.  Then, you can enter new parameters to request a smaller amount of information.

SORTING REPORTS

You can sometimes specify both a primary and a secondary sort or even more levels.  All the data gathered that has the same value for the primary sort, will then be sorted by the secondary sort criteria.

TIPS

*      To choose more than one item in a drop-down or scroll list, click the first item and then while holding down the “ctrl” (control) key, click on any additional items you wish to choose.

*      If you produce a large report, you can search for key words by pressing “Ctrl + F” to access a “Find” box.  You can also click on “Edit”, and then “Find” to perform a search.

*      Most CM/ECF text can be copied and pasted into other programs, such as word processors, on your computer.

*      You can also copy and past text within .pdf document by selecting the “Text” tool from the toolbar and then click and drag your mouse to select the text you wish to copy.

IMPORTANT

WARNING RE VIEWING .PDF DOCU- MENTS

When you click on a document or claim number while in CM/ECF, you will be able to view the document or claim, but the Adobe Acrobat Reader software will not be separately launched in the process.  Your screen will look similar to the screen below.

Note that the title bar at the top is still showing the “Kentucky Eastern Train Database – Netscape” program.

In addition, note that the main CM/ECF blue menu bar still shows.

You will need to use your browser’s  button to go back to the screen you were previously viewing.

If you try to close the .pdf document by clicking on the  button, you will actually throw yourself out of the CM/ECF system.
