FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION:

I need to attach exhibits to judge’s copies, how do you want to see them?

ANSWER:

You may transmit exhibits in pdf format as separate documents since you cannot link to scanned docs.  But, you will need to make reference to these documents within your brief, etc. as to their location by using the hyperlink feature.

QUESTION:

May we have additional time to prepare the judge’s copy since it takes some extra preparation?

ANSWER:

It is not necessary to transmit the judge’s copy at the same time as filing in order to give you some time to prepare appropriately.  EXCEPTION:  If time is of the essence, i.e. a hearing is scheduled very shortly, we would need the judge’s copy accordingly.

QUESTION:

Why can’t I use the Westlaw or Lexis automatic hyper-linking function?

ANSWER:

There are a couple of reasons.  First, and foremost, is that using those features destroys the portability of this information.  The judge uses his laptop frequently in different locations, some of which do not have internet access.  He needs this information in a user-friendly format.

QUESTION:

Will these instructions be accessible on the court site?

ANSWER:

Yes.
