A note from Clerk of Court Jerry D. Truitt

Customer service has been, and always will be, our top priority. I need to alert you that the Judiciary is experiencing a budget crunch. With two wars and homeland security to fund, the Judiciary is in a fight for every dollar. As people retire and/leave our office, we are not always authorized the money to replace them. This, of course, means the remaining staff has to assume additional duties. They are doing a great job even with the additional work resulting from BAPCPA. So, please be patient with us if we are not able to get back to you as timely as before. Will will respond.
Your comments/suggestions on how to improve our website are appreciated and invaluable. This is our vehicle to communicate with the bar and public and we continue our efforts to make our site as user-friendly as possible. Please don’t ever hesitate to suggest how we can make it better by e-mailing our webmaster.
Electronic Case Filing (ECF) has been a huge success! Thank you for all your positive comments and again for your suggestions on how to improve the system. Continue to review our website for current information.
Due to decreased demand, we are training on ECF only three (3) days every other month. If you have not been trained, you may sign up online on our CM/ECF page. Should new attorneys and paraprofessionals become involved with CM/ECF, please send them to our training rather than trying to train them in-house. CM/ECF is always changing and your new persons will get the most current information/training by attending our training. And it's free.
The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (pdf summary) became effective October 17, 2005. This is the most significant change in the bankruptcy law in the last 27 years.
Again, thanks for your comments/suggestions.
Jerry
