Chief Judge Joe Scott was elevated to the bench to succeed Judge Lee and was named Chief Judge as of October 2001. He formerly practiced law with the Lexington firm of Stoll, Keenon & Park, where he chaired the Bankruptcy section. Judge Scott received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1968 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1971. He has been very active in the Bankruptcy bar and American Bankruptcy Institute and a frequent speaker on bankruptcy-related topics at continuing legal education seminars. Search or browse opinions.
Judge William S. Howard was appointed to the bench in March, 1990. Prior to his appointment, he practiced law for 20 years in Lexington, Kentucky. Judge Howard received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1966 and his JD in 1969, both from the University of Kentucky. Search or browse opinions.
Judge Joe Lee was appointed to the bench in September, 1961. Prior to his appointment he was Counsel to a Congressional Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives, Law Clerk to U.S. District Judge H.Church Ford, and Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court. Judge Lee received his BA degree in Journalism in 1952 and his JD in 1955, both from the University of Kentucky. He continues to serve the Court in Recall status. Search or browse opinions.
Hon. Jerry D. Truitt was appointed Clerk of the Court in March, 1997. Prior to his appointment he practiced law for 25 years in Lexington, Kentucky. Mr. Truitt received his BA degree at the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce in 1964 and his JD in 1972, both from the University of Kentucky. Welcome from Mr. Truitt.
