April is designated by Congress as National Financial Literacy Month

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

A Message from the Judges of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Kentucky:

April is designated by Congress as National Financial Literacy Month.  Financial knowledge is an important step to prevent or emerge from bankruptcy.  Practitioners are urged to educate the public regarding financial literacy.  National Financial Literacy Month is a good time to start, or continue, your efforts.  Suggestions include:

1. Make a C.A.R.E. (Credit Abuse Resistance Education) presentation to a high school class (see www.careinky.org);
2. Educate a group of seniors on financial literacy or budgeting (see "ElderCare Information" on our website at http://www.kyeb.uscourts.gov/eldercare-financial-educational-materials)
3. Find your own way of giving back by reviewing the Public Outreach programs listed on the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges website (http://www.ncbj.org/?page=PublicOutreach)
