Pay.gov incident on September 16, 2014

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

This is to alert you of an incident that recently occurred with the National Payment Processing Center (Pay.gov) operated and managed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, OH.  Pay.gov electronically processes bank card payments made to not only our court but to federal courts nationwide.

On September 16, 2014, some credit (or debit) card payments were charged twice – duplicated.  Between September 16, 2014 and September 25, 2014 adjustments were made by the National Payment Processing Center to reverse erroneous charges.  In some instances, multiple adjustments were made to offset duplicate payments.

Pay.gov has advised the court that all errors have now been corrected, the Court recommends that you reconcile your bank card statements carefully to ensure all appropriate adjustments have been made satisfactorily.  Treasury has stated any overdraft fee or any related charges due to their error will be fully reimbursed.  Their customer support line is 1-800-624-1373.

As a reminder, CM/ECF filers can validate their internet payments by a report available from the CM/ECF Utilities menu.  This report should be used to regularly reconcile your bank card statement.  Select the Internet Payment History option to run the report.

We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused.
