NextGen CM/ECF

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky has started the process to migrate its Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) software to the Next Generation (NextGen) of CM/ECF with a planned target of mid-February, 2021.

 

Preparing for NextGen

Each filer must have their own PACER account, which will eventually be linked to your CM/ECF filing account once we have implemented NextGen. Shared PACER accounts cannot be used by multiple filing attorneys once we have upgraded. If you currently share a PACER account with others, you will need to obtain your own individual account.

Each filer may need to UPGRADE their PACER account. If you already have your own PACER account but it was created before 2015 and is only six (6) characters, please upgrade it.  If you've had a PACER account since 2015 and it has eight or more characters, then your account is already upgraded. 

  • Upgrade your existing PACER account
    (Login to Manage your Account at the PACER website. Once you've entered, you will see under Account Type: Legacy PACER Account, the option to Upgrade. If your account type reflects Upgraded PACER account, your account has already been upgraded.)

 

After the court migrates to NextGen

Each filer will need to link their PACER account to their CURRENT CM/ECF account. Electronic filers will not be able to e-file until their CM/ECF account is linked to their upgraded individual PACER account.

  • You will need to know your current CM/ECF login and password.
    • If your web browser automatically fills in your CM/ECF account credentials, that will not work with the linking process.
    • Please make a note of your current CM/ECF login and password prior to February 18, 2021.
    • If you do not know your current CM/ECF login, contact the registration desk.
    • If you forgot your password, you can reset it. You will need your username and email address on the account.

Go to https://ecf.kyeb.uscourts.gov

  1. Login with your individual upgraded PACER account
  2. Click on Utilities
  3. Click on Link a CM/ECF account to my PACER account
  4. Enter your CM/ECF login and password
  5. Verify that the CM/ECF and PACER information displayed is correct
  6. Click Submit

Your accounts are now linked.  You will use your PACER account login and password going forward for filing in Kentucky Eastern Bankruptcy Court.
