Reported Debtor Scam Information

Tuesday, February 24, 2026

The Judiciary has received reports of debtors in bankruptcy cases being contacted by individuals using a phone number that appears to be from a local bankruptcy court — a tactic known as “spoofing.” In these calls, debtors are asked to make an installment payment through Zelle.

Please be advised that this is a scam. Bankruptcy courts will not request payments over the phone or direct you to send funds through Zelle.

If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal or financial information. For approved payment methods, please see the Fees page.
